Goya 2007
The 21st presentation of the Goya , the most important Spanish film award, took place on January 28, 2007 in the Palacio Municipal de Congresos del Campo de las Naciones in Madrid .
The 14-time nominated tragic comedy Volver - Return of the renowned and globally recognized filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar , whose films Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and All About My Mother had already received the trophy in the main category, won as Best Film and in four other categories. The female cast of the film, which had already won awards at the Cannes Film Festival , was given particular consideration; four actresses of the ensemble received nominations, Penélope Cruz as best leading actress and Carmen Maura as best supporting actress finally prevailed. Maura received the fourth Goya in her career. The fantasy film Pan's Labyrinth by the Mexican Guillermo del Toro with Ivana Baquero , Maribel Verdú and Sergi López in the leading roles was also traded as a favorite with thirteen nominations . The film, which at the Academy Awards in 2007 as a foreign language Best Picture and was nominated in five categories, won in seven (mostly technical) categories and was the most successful work of 21 Goya Awards.
When the nominations were announced on December 18, 2006, Agustín Díaz Yanes ' adventure film Alatriste was the most successful with 15 nominations. The film adaptation of a series of novels by Arturo Pérez-Reverte with the American Viggo Mortensen in the lead role is the most expensive Spanish-language film to date with a budget of 28 million US dollars. Alatriste was also able to raise its hopes in the most important Best Film category, but in the end only won in three less important categories. The fourth work, which received the fewest nominations but competed in the Best Picture category, was Manuel Huerga's adaptation of Salvador Puig Antich's life, Salvador . The main actor in the eleven-time nominated drama is the German actor Daniel Brühl , who speaks fluent Spanish as his mother is of Catalan origin. The film was only able to prevail in the Best Adapted Screenplay category.
While Stephen Frears ' biography of the British Queen, The Queen , was able to assert itself as Best European Film, Los manos by the Argentinian Alejandro Doria won as Best Foreign Film in Spanish. The only winner was production manager Tadeo Villalba , who was responsible for this position at Ay Carmela! - practiced the song of freedom ; he received the honor Goya.
