The Confédération Africaine d'Athlétisme ( CAA ) is the continental federation of the African national athletics associations. The CAA is part of the International Association of Athletics Federations . The CAA currently has 55 members and is the host of the African Athletics Championships , which are held every two years. The CAA is based in the Senegalese capital Dakar .
The Council
The CAA Council consists of:
- the Council, which is responsible for the implementation of the decisions of the Congress and is made up of
- the president,
- a senior vice president,
- five vice presidents
- eight honorary members
- Athlete representatives
- a chairman of the board
- and 10 other members; the term of office is four years.

Hamad Kalkaba Malboum from Cameroon has been president since 2003, replacing long-term President Lamine Diack from Senegal, who was elected President of the IAAF. In the period 2019 to 2023 the following people are part of the Presidium:

Events
Since 1979, the African association has organized the African Athletics Championships, first every three years, and from 1990 every two years . In addition, the Junior African Championships for athletes under the age of 20 have been held since 1994 , as well as the Youth African Championships , which represent the U18 age group, since 2013 .

Since 2014 the individual associations have been divided into their own sub-organizations, which in turn take on regional tasks and championships.
