Conrad "Conny" Andersson (born December 28, 1939 in Alingsås ) is a former Swedish racing driver .

Career

Formula 3

Conny Andersson, the son of a Swedish workshop owner, was an excellent motocross driver at a young age . He got into international motorsport relatively late. First he bought a used Formula 3 - Brabham BT21 and started with it in national races in his home country. Between 1970 and 1976 he drove regularly in the Formula 3 European Championship . In 1974 he was four wins in his March - Toyota win. In 1975 he finished the Formula 3 race in Monaco, which is considered a springboard for a career in Formula 1, as a winner, but was disqualified for a jump start.

formula 1

Andersson took part in a single race for the Formula 1 World Championship. He started on August 29, 1976 at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort for the English Surtees team. Started the race with the Surtees TS19 - Ford - Cosworth from position 26 on the grid, but retired on lap nine with an engine failure. In 1977 Andersson tried several times in vain to qualify for another Grand Prix with the much too heavy and outdated BRM P207 of the legendary British BRM team. In the same year, with no prospect of advancing his career, he ended his active career.
