Surtees TS19

The Surtees TS19 was a Formula 1 racing car of 1976 , 1977 and 1978 of Surtees was used in the Formula 1 World Championship.

Racing history

The Surtees TS19 made its racing debut at the 1976 Grand Prix of South Africa in Kyalami with Brett Lunger at the wheel. The American started the race from 20th on the grid and finished eleventh, one lap behind Niki Lauda in the Ferrari 312T .

The TS19 had a wide flat nose and a stepped structure in the middle part. The TS19 had an external suspension at the front and rear, the gearbox came from Hewland and the tried and tested Cosworth DFV V8 engine served as the drive . In 1976 Surtees reached the TS19 with seven points, all of which were retracted by Australian Alan Jones , tenth place in the constructors' cup.

In 1977 the Italian Vittorio Brambilla joined the team, who achieved the best result of the season for the team with fourth place at the Belgian Grand Prix . At the end of the year Surtees finished eleventh in the championship with six points.
