Conrad Zehren

Conrad (Konrad) Zehre (born September 25, 1806 in Heiligenstadt ; † June 23, 1897 according to other information June 23, 1893 ibid) was a German politician of the German Center Party and a member of the Reichstag .

Live and act

Zehren attended high school in Heiligenstadt until 1825 and then studied Catholic theology in Regensburg, Rome and Munich. He received his doctorate as Dr. theol. Between 1828 and 1829 he traveled to different countries and regions. In 1829 he was ordained a priest in Paderborn. Then he was the parish administrator in Hohengandern. In 1835 he was appointed pastor in Berlingerode and in 1839 in Heiligenstadt. In the same year he entered the episcopal administration in Heiligenstadt, where he began a career in administration and rose to the position of clergyman and (1861) episcopal commissioner. In 1864 he became a member of the cathedral chapter of Paderborn as a canon of honor. Because of his services in the Kulturkampf , he was temporarily in prison, Zehre was appointed papal secret chamberlain and jubilee priest in 1876 . He was a member of the Görres Society .

Zehren was a political clergyman. As early as 1848 he was a representative of the Prussian National Assembly . He later belonged to the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency of Erfurt 2 (Heiligenstadt - Worbis) from 1862 to 1863, 1870 to 1872 and 1879 to 1882 . In the Reichstag he was only in the years 1871 to 1872. Again, he was elected in the constituency Erfurt second
