Consorcio Inversionista Fabril División Industrial Automotriz SA , or CIF Diasa for short , was a manufacturer of automobiles from Venezuela .

Company history

The company was founded in Barcelona in 1951 . At first it drove vehicles from Mercedes-Benz . In 1963, the Rootes Group started producing automobiles . From 1969 passenger cars , trucks and buses were produced under license from Mercedes-Benz. This collaboration ended in 1979. From 1978 or 1979, cars and commercial vehicles were made for Ford . Production ended in 1989.

In 1990, through an agreement with the Japanese Iwai group (predecessor of the Sojitz group ), the company formed MMC Automotriz , which began producing Mitsubishi models.

Since April 1962 Rootes vehicles of the brands Hillman, Sunbeam and Commer have been produced in Venezuela. However, it is not known whether these vehicles were manufactured by CIF.

Passenger cars of the W 108 , W 111 , W 114 and W 116 series were created for Mercedes-Benz . The Mercedes-Benz L 1113 has been handed down as a truck .

As Guri Conquistador , a coupé was made that corresponded to the Ford Thunderbird . A V8 engine with a 101.6 mm bore , 76.2 mm stroke , 4943 cm³ displacement and 138  hp power propelled the vehicles. With a wheelbase of 290 cm and a track width of 161 cm (front) and 160 cm (rear), the vehicles were 552 cm long, 200 cm wide and 134 cm high. The curb weight was given as 1827 kg. Of these, 1896 were made.

The Ford Conquistador came in two generations.

In addition, Guri trucks were built under a Ford license.
