Konstantin von Buttlar

Konstantin von Buttlar (* 1679 in Fulda ; † 1726 in Eichenzell near Fulda), born as Friedrich Otto von Buttlar, was Prince Abbot of Fulda from 1714 to 1726 .

Konstantin von Buttlar originally had the first name Friedrich Otto. He was a son of Johann Christoph von Buttlar , sergeant-general of the imperial troops in the Upper Rhine District , and his wife Maria Renata nee. from Freyberg .

He was the official successor of Prince Adalbert von Schleifras and was elected as a compromise candidate in the third ballot in 1715 after disputes over his successor. His reign was marked by power struggles with the collegiate chapter.

Buttlar completed the buildings his predecessor had started at the Fulda City Palace and at Bieberstein Castle . He bought in 1716 the archbishop of Mainz Lothar Franz von Schönborn , the Schloss Johannisberg in Rheingau for 75,392 guilders from the building demolished and there a three-winged castle building as a summer residence built with a large cellar for grape juice.

Konstantin von Buttlar died in 1726 in one of his summer residences, the Schlösschen zu Eichenzell .
