The Coop-ITS-Travel AG (short ITS Coop Travel ) is a Swiss tour operator with headquarters in Freienbach in canton Schwyz . The domicile is in Wilen near Wollerau and the administration in Volketswil . It is a joint venture between the Coop Cooperative and the DER Touristik Group . The core of the offer are package tours to beach holiday destinations.

history

In April 2006, the Swiss retail and wholesale company Coop announced its return to the travel market. For this purpose, a cooperation was entered into with the tourism division of the Rewe Group . This was responsible for the conception and planning of travel services, which Coop was to market from now on through its branches and channels.

ITS Coop Travel started its offer in September 2006 and, from the very beginning, focused primarily on classic holiday trips, which are sold as a flight and hotel package. The company pursued a strategy of differentiating itself from the competition through price-performance ratio . The Tages-Anzeiger described it as a "challenge to the established travel agents".

In this way, ITS Coop Travel successfully established itself in the Swiss travel market. Within a few months, the company had sales worth around five million Swiss francs. In the following years it continuously reached more customers and grew against the market trend. Direct sales via the internet and telephone played a decisive role in this.

In 2015 ITS Coop Travel opened a new administration center in Volketswil, where the company's only travel agency is still located today. At times, additional travel agencies were being planned, but the project was discarded for economic reasons. In 2015, the Rewe Group took over its competitor Kuoni Reisen , which has been a sister company of ITS Coop Travel since then .

structure

ITS Coop Travel was entered in the commercial register of Canton Schwyz on June 19, 2006 and published in the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce on June 23, 2006. The company operates as a stock corporation under Swiss law with a capital of 500,000 Swiss francs with full payment . The share capital of ITS Coop Travel is divided into 500 registered shares with a nominal value of 1,000 Swiss francs each.

The business purpose of the company is the "trade in products and goods of all kinds as well as the provision of services in the tourism and travel industry". Furthermore, the ITS Coop Travel can “acquire and sell real estate, participate in other companies and acquire or establish similar or related companies and make other types of investments”.

Andreas Restle is the managing director of ITS Coop Travel. Reto Jürg Conrad, represented by Sören Hartmann , acts as Chairman of the Board of Directors .
