geography
The place is located in the northern part of the municipality of Dervio on a hillside sloping towards Lake Como at the foot of Monte Legnone , halfway to the neighboring village of Dorio , about 12 km northeast of Bellagio and 5 km from Colico .
history
Corenno was originally part of the parish of Dervio on the Riviera di Lecco, which belonged to the province of the Duchy of Milan .
When the Austrian Lombardy was divided into provinces, Corenno was assigned to the province of Como in 1786 and to its province of Milan in 1791.
In the Napoleonic era (1809) Corenno became a fraction of Dervio , but regained independence with the establishment of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Veneto (1816).
At the time of the unification of Italy (1861) the municipality had 252 inhabitants. In 1864 it took over the current name Corenno Plinio as the official name. Corenno Plinio returned to Dervio in 1927 .
