Dervio is an Italian commune in the province of Lecco in the Lombardy region with 2614 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

geography

Dervio is about 25 km northwest of the provincial capital Lecco and 70 km north of the metropolis of Milan , at the mouth of the Varronetal and at the foot of Monte Legnoncino and Monte Legnone . It is traversed by the Varrone River, on whose delta it rests. The municipality includes the fractions Corenno Plinio , Castello , Monastero , Borgo , La Foppa , Pianezzo , Monte , Roncacci , Villa , Balma and Ronchi di Vesgallo .

The municipality is divided into four districts: Borgo , in which the fishermen used to live, Villa , which is at a panoramic height, Castello , where there are ruins of a tower from the 3rd century and traces of older towers, and Corenno Plinio , the medieval village.

The neighboring municipalities are Bellano , Cremia ( CO ), Dorio , Valvarrone , Pianello del Lario (CO), San Siro (CO), Sueglio and Vendrogno .

history

Grave goods from the Roman-Gallic culture testify to an early settlement. In the Middle Ages, the parish of Dervio was one of the largest on the east bank.

economy

The village is a popular holiday destination, arts and crafts center and has companies in the fields of metal processing, ceramics, paper production, feldspar extraction and its own shipyard.
