Valvarrone is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 530 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Lecco ( Lombardy region ).

geography

The municipality is located about 25 km north of the provincial capital Lecco in the valley of the same name, traversed by the Varrone River, east of Lake Como in the Bergamasque Alps .

history

The municipality was created on January 1, 2018 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities Introzzo , Tremenico and Vestreno .

The municipality of Valvarrone has 14 fractions : Acque, Avano, Benago, Bondal, Comun, Grasagne, Introzzo (town hall), Masatele, Monte Lavadè, Posol, Roccoli Lorla, Tremenico, Subiale and Vestreno.
