Santa Maria Hoè is a municipality with 2177 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Lecco in the Italian region of Lombardy .

geography

Santa Maria Hoè is about 20 km south of the provincial capital Lecco , halfway between Como and Bergamo , in the Meratese , a landscape in the west of the province of Monza and Brianza . Districts ( frazioni ) are Alduno, Bosco, Hoè and Tremonte.

The neighboring municipalities are Castello di Brianza , Colle Brianza , Olgiate Molgora and Rovagnate .

Culture and sights

In the 19th century, Santa Maria Hoè was an important marketplace for silk moth cocoons ; the silk culture was from the mid-18th century to the 20th century an important industry in the Brianza.
