Abbadia Lariana is a municipality in the province of Lecco in the Lombardy region .
geography
The municipality is located on a rocky promontory at the mouth of the Zerbo and Lago di Como. The municipality covers an area of 17.09 km². Abbadia Lariana includes the fractions: Borbino , Onedo , San Rocco , Chiesa Rotta , Novegolo , Castello, Robianico , Molini , Linzanico , Crebbio , Lombrino , Piani Resinelli and Zana . The place is a good starting point for hikes on Monte Grigna . The neighboring municipalities are Ballabio , Lecco , Mandello del Lario , Oliveto Lario , Valbrona (CO).
history
The name comes from an old abbey ( Italian : Abbazia) that stood in the village. But nothing can be seen of the abbey today. This abbey was first inhabited by Benedictines . Later appropriated to the Monastery of San Vincenzo in Milan . In the 13th century it became a Servite monastery .
