Nibionno is a municipality in the province of Lecco in the Italian region of Lombardy with 3668 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
geography
Nibionno is located about 15 km southwest of the provincial capital Lecco and 30 km north of the metropolis of Milan .
The neighboring municipalities are Bulciago , Cassago Brianza , Costa Masnaga , Inverigo (CO), Lambrugo (CO) and Veduggio con Colzano (MB).
Nibionno consists of the main towns Tabiago and Cibrone and the smaller districts California, Gaggio, Molino Nuovo and Mongodio. The municipal offices are in Tabiago.
history
The name Nibionno could come from "Neblus", medieval Latin for Bach . The first mention of Nibionno comes from the year 848, when a pieve was erected in the locality of Incino and one is mentioned in 'vico et fundi Nebioni'. In 1440 the local association of Nibionno ('Squadra di Nibionno') was founded in the Duchy of Milan , which existed until the 18th century. In 1569 a parish was founded.
The place in the center of the province of Monza and Brianza passed from the province of Como to the province of Lecco in 1992 .
