Culture and sights

  • San Giovanni Evangelista, parish church
  • Church of San Michele : In the district of San Michele, 3.4 km north of the center of Galbiates on the eastern slope of Monte Barro , there is the unfinished church of the same name based on a project by the important Milanese baroque architect Attilio Arrigoni (1640–1704) who designed Palazzo Sormani in Milan Andriani and the Rotonda della Besana . The impressive shell remained without equipment and without a roof because the community had run out of money.
  • Santa Maria Bambina Church
  • Sant'Alessandro Church
  • Santa Maria al Barro church
  • San Rocco Church $
  • Church of Santi Genesio e Macario
  • Santa Maria Assunta Church
  • Oratory of San Giuseppe
  • Museo etnografo dell'Alta Brianza, a small museum of rural culture, in the district of Camporeso.
  • Villa Bertarelli.
  • Palazzo Brioschi
  • Monte Barro : the regional park "Parco naturale del Monte Barro" was declared a nature park of European importance because of its extraordinary location (in the last ice age, an island mountain in the glacier stream that came from Bernina and Ortler and almost reached Monza). The peculiarities of the flora (more than 1000 species on almost 7 km², including rare pre-glacial species) and the fauna are explained in a small museum, which is located in the former Eremo halfway up the mountain. A few minutes up there is an educational plant trail. The building was originally part of a high medieval fortification system and was rebuilt in the Renaissance (San Vittore Chapel). The components, which were once used as a hostel, were used as an air healing facility in the first half of the 20th century and are now the center of the nature park in a grove of 200-300-year-old beeches. On the ascent to Monte Barro some remains of fortification towers from the Eastern Gothic period.
