Cornelia Giebeler

Cornelia Giebeler , (born August 9, 1955 in Gosenbach ), is a German sociologist . She teaches as a professor at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences .

Life

After graduating from high school, Giebeler initially studied architecture and urban planning at the Siegen University , but soon moved to Bielefeld University to study sociology , pedagogy , history and literature . After research in Venezuela , she completed her studies in 1979 with a thesis on "Land occupation and agricultural reform" as a sociologist. After several years of work and life in Herford , she received her doctorate in 1990 from Bielefeld University . The title of the dissertation was: “Between protest and discipline. The Feminist Paradox. ”After a DFG research project , she completed her habilitation at the University of Bremen with a thesis on the continuity and change in gender relations in Zapotec culture in Mexico. In 1993 she took on a substitute professorship in the social affairs department of the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences , and in 1998 she was appointed professor there. Her subject areas are social and educational theories and methods.
