Cornelia Ulrich

Cornelia Maren Ulrich (born October 31, 1967 in Stuttgart- Bad Cannstatt ) is a German epidemiologist . From September 2009 to November 2014 she headed the Preventive Oncology Department at the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg . At the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the Heidelberg University Hospital , she held the professorship for preventive oncology of the same name. Cornelia Ulrich has been the director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City since July 2018 . Since July 2015 she has been Division Chief for Cancer Population Sciences in the Department of Population Health Sciences at the University of Utah. She has published more than 300 publications ( h-Index 64), was Chair of the Scientific Council of the IARC and a member of numerous national and international advisory bodies until May 2015 .

She was also the chairwoman of the DKFZ Executive Women's Initiative and working group leader for prevention in the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK). Her department researches genetic and lifestyle factors in the development and prognosis of cancer. The main topics are anti-inflammatory drugs in cancer prevention, personalized prevention through pharmacogenetics , and the role of energy balance and exercise in cancer prevention.

Life

After graduating from Gustav-Stresemann-Gymnasium in Fellbach-Schmiden in 1987, Ulrich studied nutritional science at the University of Hohenheim and at the Oregon State University . In 1998 she received her PhD from the University of Washington . She is married and has two sons.
