The Trientiner Bergsteigerchor SOSAT is an internationally known, Italian male choir , which is mainly dedicated to folk music . His home is Trento in Northern Italy .
history
At the instigation of the founder and president of “SOSAT” ( acronym for Sezione Operaia della Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini - German Workers' Section of the Trentino Mountaineering Association), Nino Peterlongo, some of its members called the first mountaineering choir, the “Chor der SOSAT “into life. This laid the roots for a new form of musical expression that immediately met with great approval. During fascism , the choir was renamed Coro della SAT in 1938 . After the end of the Second World War , the choir split into the Coro della SAT and the Coro della SOSAT . In 1961 it took on the official name of the Trento SOSAT Choir.
The choir has been giving international concerts for years and has produced numerous musical publications and records. A number of songs were arranged for the choir by the pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli .
