Cosme da Silva Campos

Cosme da Silva Campos (born December 21, 1952 in Pedro Leopoldo ) is a former Brazilian soccer player . The striker was a Brazilian international .

He started his career in 1970 at Atlético Mineiro . After brief interludes at AA Caldense and Nacional Manaus , for which he scored 14 goals, he returned to Mineiro, where he was the top scorer in 1973 with 15 goals. In November 1973 he was tested positive for ephedrine during the doping control after the game against Vasco da Gama and was banned for six months. It was the first official doping case in Brazilian football. He then played for Atlético Mineiro until 1976. Via Guarani he then moved to Náutico Capibaribe , where he was under contract until the end of 1978. Then he spent a year with São Bento and in 1980 with América and FC Santos . After Operário and Colorado he played again in 1982 with Nacional Manaus. Then he was active in lower-class clubs, only in 1984 he was again under contract with a first division club, Operário Várzea Grande .

Campos was called up to the Brazilian national team five times in 1975 and scored two goals. At the Copa América 1975 he reached the semifinals with Brazil.
