Cosmonautix is a Berlin music group that calls their music "Russian Balalaika Speedfolk".
history
The band was founded in 2005 and made their first appearance in a Berlin nightclub in January 2006 . After numerous concerts, including in the Kaffee Burger , Cosmonautix played outside Germany for the first time in 2008 in Vienna and Bratislava .
Cosmonautix had the biggest appearance so far on June 26, 2008 before the Russia-Spain game on the European Championship fan mile in Berlin, where the band played in front of around 500,000 spectators.
Another success is the inclusion of her interpretation of the Yiddish song Rabejnu Tam together with the Dutch singer Shura Lipovsky in the anthology SOL SAJN - Yiddish Music in Germany and its Influences (1953-2009) ( Bear Family Records , 2009).
On January 28, 2011, the debut album Energija was released on the Berlin record label Piranha Musik , which was officially funded by the Initiative Musik .
Band name
The band created the myth of having been on board the Russian spacecraft Buran in 1988 , of not having returned from the officially unmanned test flight and of performing today in the form of a music group. The band name Cosmonautix is a modification of the word cosmonaut .
style
Cosmonautix mainly plays traditional songs from Russia and other Eastern European countries such as Ukraine , Slovakia and the Balkans , which she reinterprets. Due to the instrumentation , such as the balalaika and violin , the works remain authentic, while other genres such as ska , punk , polka and klezmer are touched on by the rhythm .
