The Cottonwood Creek is the largest non dammed tributary of the Sacramento River . The approximately 72 km (45 miles ) long river in California is the border river between Shasta County in the north and Tehama County in the south.
Cottonwood Creek rises in the Klamath Mountains and the Coast Mountains of California and flows east to flow into the Sacramento River at Cottonwood . The river overcomes a difference in elevation of approximately 2,400 m (7800 feet) at the source to 46 m (150 feet) at the confluence with the Sacramento River. The river flows through forest, grass and agricultural land on its way. The smaller towns of Igo , Ono , Beegum , Platina and Bowman are on Cottonwood Creek , the largest town is Cottonwood at the confluence with the Sacramento River.
