The Holland Job is a collaboration album by the German rappers Haftbefehl and Xatar , who performed under the name Coup as part of this collaboration . The album was released on August 12, 2016 on the Four Music label .

history

On May 1, 2016, the arrest warrant and Xatar were guests on the television program Studio Amani , which both left early. As a result, both rappers deleted their profiles on Facebook and Instagram as well as their videos on YouTube . It was later announced that it was a promotion for the album, which the two wanted to release under the name Coup .

The first single AFD was released on July 8, 2016 on Youtube. It means something like “Foreigners for Germany” and is based on the Alternative for Germany party , which has been criticized. Further single releases followed with 500 , Gib Geld and Ich z zayle nix .

The album reached number 1 in the German album charts in August 2016.

criticism

The album drew both criticism and praise shortly after its release. Aria Nejati wrote for Hiphop.de that the album " gives a hint in the title that it is going to be cinematic, but does not consistently carry out the project" . The accompanying short film is "amusing" , but the plot is "loose, chaotic, comedic" . Musically, the album has "little or nothing to do with the Holland Job mentioned in the film and title . " The record is "essentially limited to Hau-Drauf tracks and by and large dispenses with a dramatic arc of suspense" .

For Intro magazine , Der Holland Job delivers “not only enough hits for a collective bass swoon, but also tracks to make you nod your hangover in the morning” . With the refrain on Gib Geld , which comes from Haiyti , arrest warrant and Xatar would also show “that they have not lost track of the zeitgeist” .

Laut.de puts the music in the foreground. Each of the producers “only delivered the finest goods” . The collab album is "music in the ears of those who thirst for dirty, honest rape" and "a more than solid gangstarap album" . However, the magazine also states: "It's not enough for the really big coup."
