The Notorious HAFT is a mixtape by the German rapper Haftbefehl . It was released for free download on February 24, 2012 and as a limited LP in 2015.

background

The Notorious HAFT was published on February 24, 2012 via the Splash! Mag website. It contains remixes of solo songs and collaborations with other rappers. The title of the mixtape is based on the stage name of the American rapper The Notorious BIG , who had his 15th anniversary of death a few days after publication. Arrest warrant's presentation style was compared more often with the style of The Notorious BIG, especially in the reception of his album Kanackiş .

The remixes for the rapper's songs were made by Shuko, Suff Daddy, Brenk, Dexter, Fid Mella, Clefco, V.Raeter, Torky Tork, Kova and Hade. The final mastering was done by Kova.

criticism

The Laut.de e-zine , which had negative reviews of Haftbefehl's solo albums Azzlack Stereotyp and Kanackiş , voted the free mixtape 21st on its list of the “25 best hip hop albums of 2012”. In a comment it is pointed out that the arrest warrant polarized and that his opponents would not "change this remix tape [...] either". The rest of the listeners can look forward to "classic adhesive flows, newly and atypically arranged, sometimes small sensations from beats".

The website 16bars.de stated that on the mixtape “the usual synth boards” of the pieces by Haftbefehl were exchanged for “largely sample-based productions”. The result was "a very round, varied mixtape".

The publication was also praised in a review by the Mixtapesammelstelle website. If “the original beat selection wastes the rapper's talent”, the editorial team believes that “only a remix that really shows off the rap” will help. This was achieved with The Notorious HAFT . The new beats give the songs the " Mobb Deep list ". They are also characterized as "asphalt dryer boombap".

Arrest warrant himself said in an interview that he was not satisfied with the new versions of his songs. From his point of view, only two to three “bangs” can be heard on the mixtape.
