Courageous was a power metal band from Hessen , Germany .

history

The band was founded in 1988, but it took several years until a permanent line-up was established. In the first few years the band recorded several demos and played a few concerts until the regular cast was formed in 1998; Chris Staubach (vocals), Gerd Lücking (guitar), Oliver Lohmann (guitar), Jan Mischon (drums) and Jürgen Wieland (bass).

The production of the first full-length CD took place in the same year. That was the actual hour of birth of the band Courageous. In early 1999, the Frankfurt formation's debut album was released with Listen .

The radio station hr3 voted the band among other things as the “best newcomer band of the year” on the Hard'n'Heavy show in 1999 .

After an increased live presence (for example in the opening act for Metal Church , Rage , Thunderhead , Eisregen , Third Moon and Avalon) in the following 2 years, the second album "Remember" was recorded in 2001.

After numerous other appearances (for example with Tankard , Angel Dust , JBO , The Traceelords , Perzonal War and on the Summer Breeze warm-up show with Blackened and Edenbridge ) the band started pre-production for the third album and was able to do some Draw attention to record companies. The contract was awarded the Belgian label Mausoleum Records , among others, in the early 1980s, the debut album Burning the Witches of Warlock brought to market. With a lot of tailwind and full of euphoria, work on Inertia began in autumn 2003 , which finally appeared officially in late summer 2004.

In January 2005 the Hessians toured the Republic with the Hungarians Superbutt in order to headline various local festivals, which also gave them some radio and television appearances. Courageous then got to know the darker side of business, because two confirmed European tours were canceled in a very short time. In both cases, the main bands had to cancel the tour for various reasons.

In October the listeners of the radio station You FM voted them the best band in the Rhine-Main area. All the more astonishing when you consider that Courageous was the only metal band to prevail against exclusively mainstream bands.

At the end of the year, the band went to the Black Solaris Studios in Frankfurt am Main to record the new disc under the direction of Uwe Lulis ( Rebellion , ex- Grave Digger ). Courageous enjoyed every freedom and completed the work and the mix on Downfall of Honesty in spring 2006 . Since there was no longer enough for a meaningful release before the summer festivals, the release was postponed to October for business reasons.

In November 2006 the band completed a two-week European tour with Beyond Fear and Vicious Rumors.

On Tuesday, January 6th, 2009 the band announced their breakup on their Myspace page.
