Courtney Peak is a 1060  m high summit of the Gross Hills in the West Antarctic Heritage Range .

Courtney Peak was mapped by the United States Geological Survey as part of the survey of the Ellsworth Mountains in 1961-66 through field surveys and aerial photographs by the United States Navy . The summit was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names after Kenneth N. Courtney, an electronics engineer with the United States Navy. During its missions in Antarctica (six summer seasons including Operation Deep Freeze in 1966) this had contributed to improvements in efficiency in the communication area.
