Covelo is a former municipality in Portugal .
history
Covelo was a municipality in the Ázere district until 1666, before being incorporated into the Farinha Podre district (later São Pedro de Alva ). Covelo has belonged to Tábua since the district was dissolved in 1853. For a long time Covelo was referred to in the plural as Covelos , because the place is divided into two districts, Upper and Lower Covelo.
administration
Covelo was an independent community ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Tábua , in the Coimbra district . On June 30, 2011 the community had 247 inhabitants in an area of 13.4 km².
The municipality consisted of three localities:
- Covelo de Cima ("Upper Covelo")
- Covelo de Baixo ("lower Covelo")
- Quinta da Raposeira
In the course of the local reorganization of Portugal after the local elections on September 29, 2013, Covelo was merged with Ázere to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Ázere e Covelo . The seat of the new municipality is Ázere, but the municipal administration in Covelo remained as a citizens' office.
