history

The place is documented for the first time in the surveys under King D. Dinis in the early 14th century. As São Pedro de Farinha Podre it was the seat of an independent district until the administrative reforms after the Miguelistenkrieg , when the district was dissolved on December 31, 1853 .

On February 21, 1889, the place name was changed to its current name. On August 16, 1991, São Pedro de Alva was elevated to a small town ( Vila ). In 2013, the independent community was dissolved and merged with São Paio de Mondego to form one community.
