Crabro is a genus of digger wasps (Spheciformes) from the Crabronidae family. About 88 species are known, almost all of which are found in the Holarctic . Thereare 30 species inthe Palearctic , 13 species in Europe and seven in Central Europe.
features
The medium to large digger wasps almost all have yellow markings on their abdomen. The antennae of the males have 13 limbs, some of which are usually conspicuously shaped. The rails ( tibia ) of the front legs are widened like a shield. The pygidial field of the females is strongly flattened and has straight sides.
Way of life
The females create their nests in the ground. Some need sandy soils. The brood is supplied with different flies .
