Craig Biddle

Craig Biddle (born October 24, 1879 in Pennsylvania , † April 8, 1947 in New Jersey ) was an American tennis player .

Career

Biddle, a millionaire from Philadelphia , took part in the US championships from 1905 . In Europe he appeared especially in 1913 and 1914 at tournaments in England and on the Riviera . At Wimbledon he was able to advance to the round of 16 in 1913. At the side of the Persian Prince Bahram Mirza Sardar Mass'oud , he lost the Nice final against Anthony Wilding and Arthur Balfour in March 1914 .

After the First World War , Biddle reached the mixed final of the American Championships together with Molla Mallory in 1920 , which the couple lost to Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman and Wallace Johnson in straight sets. In individual he was able to reach the quarter-finals there in 1917, 1918 and 1921. In 1927, towards the end of his career, he took part in the French championships .
