Craig Alan Cackowski (born October 3, 1969 in Virginia ) is an American actor , comedian and improviser . He gained fame primarily through his roles in the series Community and Drunk History .

life and career

Craig Cackowski comes from the US state Virginia , where he attended the College of William & Mary . There he obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater. He gained his first experience on stage as part of the improv group W. & M.'s troupe IT from Chicago , where he moved after graduation. He first appeared in front of the camera in 1995 on the television program The Armando Diaz Experience, Theatrical Movement and Hootenanny . He is the brother of screenwriter and actress Liz Cackowski and brother-in-law of screenwriter and director Akiva Schaffer . After minor film and series appearances, he was in guest roles in Arrested Development , Leave It, Larry! , How I Met Your Mother and workaholics to see. In 2007 he played a small role in the drama Year of the Dog .

From 2009 to 2015 he played a minor supporting role in the comedy series Community as Officer Cackowski . In 2013 and 2016 he starred as Cliff in a small role on the HBO series Veep - The Vice President . In 2013 he appeared in the comedies Kings of Summer and 21 & Over, each in a small role. After guest appearances in Welcome to the Family and Newsreaders , he has also been a permanent member of the comedy series Drunk History since 2013 . Parallel to the latter production, Cackowski was also seen in The Mindy Project , Son of Zorn , Girlboss , Forever , Speechless , Badge of a Quitter and in the diary of a future president . From 2016 to 2019 he was seen in a supporting role as caretaker Todd in the series Bajillion Dollar propertie $ . From 2017 to 2018 he played a supporting role on the short-lived sitcom The Mayor . In 2019 he appeared as Mason in the comedy film Wine Country , in which his sister also starred, who was also involved in the script.

Cackowski lives in Los Angeles, where he has been teaching improvisation at iO West since 1992. He leads the Dasariski improvisation group , with whom he performs at national festivals. Together with his wife Carla he forms the improv duo Orange Tuxedo . They both lived in Chicago in the early 2000s and met in 2006 when Cackowski was teaching them. For a while he worked with the Second City theater group from Chicago, where he taught and acted himself from 1995.
