Crane is the county capital and seat of the county seat of Crane County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located in the east of the county, in the west of Texas, is in the northwest about 80 km from the southeast corner of New Mexico and has a total area of ​​2.6 km² without any significant water surface.

history

The city, like the county, was named after William Cary Crane, a president of Baylor University . In 1908 the county's first and to date only postal office was established. In 1926, oil discoveries led to a brief oil boom.
