action

Due to the scarce and expensive housing options, six people in their mid-twenties live together in a disused hospital. Their purpose is to protect the property from squatting and to keep it in order. It is cheap to live there, but strict regulations apply. The residents are not allowed to throw parties, smoke, cook, accommodate guests or have sex. If someone is thrown out of the hospital, they only have two days to look for a new place to stay. Nevertheless, the group repeatedly defies the regulations.

After a party in the hospital, the lives of the residents suddenly change. Suddenly Lulu is at the door and also wants to move into the hospital. She is a friend of Anthony, who lives in the house with his fiancée Kate. Anthony and Lulu are secretly in love with each other, which repeatedly leads to conflicts between Anthony and his fiancée Kate.

Also, Colin, one of Kate's work colleagues, comes to the party. Colin suffers greatly from the separation from his wife, who has already moved into the house with her new lover. The French artist Melody is fascinated by the broken man and wants to paint him. An intimate friendship develops between the unequal couple.

Sam, who turns on every girl he comes across, is initially frustrated when he is not assigned a woman at a party game, but his roommate Fred as his play partner. However, he quickly realizes that he actually really likes Fred. He eventually falls in love with Fred, but cannot admit his feelings for Fred.

As the friends live together, their secrets keep coming to light. For example, Kate does not have an orgasm with her fiancé Anthony, which Lulu learns during a dinner for the residents. Sam tries to cover up the grief over his deceased father and his insecurity with arrogant behavior, but his feelings and his vulnerable side keep coming to the fore. Lulu, on the other hand, has sex with Sam, but doesn't want Anthony to know about it.

Reviews

The reviews of the series were mixed. List's Brian Donaldson thinks the comedy series isn't funny at all. The bad script would become a burden for the entire season and overshadow everything else. However, Kathy Burke's cameo as an eccentric aunt is fabulous.

Judy Berman of the New York Times believes Crashing can be recommended for viewers who are tired of the predictable storylines of other series. There are many twists and turns in Crashing, and no story would turn out as expected. In addition, the figures have an incredible depth. Viewers who are not fans of dirty jokes or abrupt changes in tone, however, are not recommended to watch this anarchic series. The episodes could go from deeply romantic to deeply depressing without warning. The only thing the viewer could rely on in every scene is that it has an outrageously dirty sense of humor.

Richard Vine of The Guardian adds that the conversations on the show are open and dirty, as well as sad and strange. Thus, they would give the series a feeling of freshness.

Kasia Delgado of the Radio Times says Crashing deserves to be a big hit. The series just got funnier and smarter with each episode, and arouse curiosity about what will happen to this strange group of adults in the next episode.
