Damien Molony (born February 21, 1984 in Johnstown Bridge ) is an Irish actor .

childhood and education

During his childhood and adolescence, Molony wanted to become a football player, but gave up the dream. Instead, he decided to become an actor. In order to have an alternative to an acting career, Molony studied business administration and politics from 2003 to 2007. He then joined an amateur theater group called Balally Players and performed with them in various regions. In 2008 he introduced himself at the Drama Center London and completed his acting training there. He completed this in 2011.

Career

After Molony's acting degree at the Drama Center London , he had the second leading role as Giovanni in the play 'Tis Pity She's a Whore' by John Ford at the West Yorkshire Playhouse .

Molony's role as William West Junior in the short film Making Rosebud earned him a first credits credits. He got his first leading role in the BBC Three series Being Human , in which he played a vampire named Hal Yorke . In an interview with SFX Magazine , Molony said that in preparation for the role of Hal, he did research on drug addicts and alcoholics. After completing season 4 of Being Human , Molony starred in the roles of Motl and Nate in Traveling Light directed by Nicholas Hytner at the National Theater . Following performances in London, the play toured England before returning to the National Theater in April 2012. In 2011 he appeared as a stage actor in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night with Shakespeare in Styria . British director Sean Aita directed it . In 2013, Molony DC portrayed Albert Flight in the British crime series Ripper Street .

Since 2014 he can be seen in the lead role of DS Jack Weston in the television series Suspects . In this television series, the actions are only roughly given and the actors have to improvise in their dialogues. From February to May 2015 he played Spike in the play The Hard Problem at the National Theater. On April 16, 2015, a live stream of the play was shown in selected cinemas. In September 2015, Molony played boxer Danny Dempsey on the Irish television series Clean Break . He also played Ross in the movie Kill Your Friends . Molony also played a leading role in the HBO pilot The Devil You Know . However, the series was canceled after the pilot. In early 2016, Molony starred as Anthony in the British comedy series Crashing . He also played a soldier in the Irish film Tiger Raid , which is based on a play by Mick Donnellan .

Molony also continued his theater career in 2016. He was seen alongside Ian McKellen , Patrick Stewart and Owen Teale in No Man's Land at Foster Wyndham's Theater in London. The play was shown in various cinemas worldwide in December 2016.

Private life

Molony is married with a son who was born in late 2016. He goes to donate blood and campaigns for it on his Twitter account.
