Crazy Horse is a rock band founded by Neil Young in 1968 , with whom he still tours today. The band is named after the Indian chief Crazy Horse .

Career

The band released several albums with Neil Young under the name Neil Young and Crazy Horse , during the 73 autumn tour with Young the group appeared under the name The Santa Monica Flyers and in spring 1996 as Young's backing band The Echoes . In the course of some concert tours, only individual members of Crazy Horse play in other backing bands, for example during the 1988 concerts with the blue notes Frank “Poncho” Sampedro on the keyboard. Crazy Horse also released albums without Neil Young , sometimes with a changing line-up. Bassist Billy Talbot first released a solo record in 2005, which was followed by more in 2014 and 2015.

Crazy Horse emerged from the band The Rockets , as a swan song for this time is the piece Requiem for the Rockets on the first album by Neil Young and Crazy Horse . The founding members of Crazy Horse were Ralph Molina ( drums ), Billy Talbot ( bass ) and Danny Whitten ( guitar ), who died in 1972 and was replaced in 1975 by Frank "Poncho" Sampedro. In the meantime there were members: among others Jack Nitzsche ( piano ; 1969–1971), Nils Lofgren (guitar; 1970, 1971, 1973, 2018) and Ben Keith (guitar; 1973, 1984, 1987).
