Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is Neil Young's first album together with the band Crazy Horse , which has accompanied him from time to time. At the same time, it is the second solo album after Neil Young , named after himself , which he released in 1968. The RIAA awarded the album platinum .

The German edition of the music magazine Rolling Stone put the album in their list of the 500 best albums of all time in 2004 at number 134. This makes it Young's second most successful album after Harvest , which is listed at number 33; other albums of Youngs in the 500 catalog are: Weld , Freedom , Zuma and Tonight's the Night .
Emergence
While Neil Young was recording his first solo album, he came into contact with the West Coast band The Rockets , with Ralph Molina as drummer, Billy Talbot as bassist and Danny Whitten as guitarist . He recognized the potential of this formation, won them over to his interests and they already renamed themselves Crazy Horse for the next studio album.
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere was completed in just two weeks . The album, which contains seven tracks, was put together in the spirit of extensive instrumental passages. The best-known pieces are Cinnamon Girl , which is received as a powerful, edgy riff-rock work and Down by the River and Cowgirl in the Sand , pieces that put Young's guitar playing in the foreground. Young is said to have written the songs in a feverish state. The album is still heavily influenced by the West Coast folk rock of his previous band Buffalo Springfield . In Round & Round (It Will not Be Long) had Robin Lane, later as a singer of the band chart busters became known.
