Creative Arts and Music Project

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Creative Arts and Music Project (CAMP) is an international festival for visual music that has existed since 1999.

The festival is a platform as well as an interactive research laboratory for sound artists , musicians and artists from the fields of video art , installation and new media . The festival is organized by Camp eV Artistic directors: Friedemann Dähn and Thomas Maos , Stefan Hartmeier and Martin Mangold are responsible for the organization.

“In addition to festivals such as Soundframe Vienna, Cinematics Brussels and Transmediale Berlin, the Camp Festival, which was launched in 1999, is currently one of the most promising events for visual music. The VJs, installation artists, musicians and computer nerds involved no longer bring finished works with them, but rather work them out during the camp as a »temporary laboratory«, as the organizers Fried Dähn and Thomas Maos put it. " DIE ZEIT

In lectures and workshops, topics, questions and results are processed and communicated. The work of the artists is documented and analyzed. In texts, pictures and with the video documentation of the rehearsals and performances, a large amount of illustrative material is then available, which is made available to both the project partners and interested outsiders. Since then, the festival has taken place on invitation at various locations: 2005 Montemor-o-Novo (Portugal), 2007 Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart - funded by the Federal Cultural Foundation , 2010 HfG Karlsruhe , 2011 Zagreb (Croatia). In 2009 the festival celebrated its tenth anniversary at the Württembergischer Kunstverein Stuttgart.

At the camp festival in Karlsruhe in autumn 2011, the collaboration between the Zagreb Academy of Art and the Karlsruhe University of Design was continued with student exchanges and lectures by some of the teachers from both institutes. In 2013 CAMP was invited to the Swiss Salon of the Venice Biennale : “Go with the Flow or: Digital Fluxus. The CAMP Festival for Visual Music With Fried Dähn, Thomas Maos, Claudia Robles-Angel, Maria Fernandez, Rodolfo Lillo. "
