Cristian Gigi Brăneț (born July 14, 1977 in Galați ) is a former Romanian football player on the position of goalkeeper . He played a total of 183 games in League 1 . In 2011 he won the Romanian championship with Oțelul Galați .

Career

Brăneț started his career with Dunărea Galați in his hometown. In the 1998/99 season he came to his first appearance in the Divizia B . With the start of the 1999/2000 season he was at Dunărea the goalkeeper could relegation of his team in the Divizia C . He then moved to local rivals Oţelul Galaţi , in the Divizia A played. There he could not assert himself, however, and left the club during the winter break to Laminorul Roman in Divizia B. He then moved to Hapoel Tsafririm Holon in the Israeli League Leumit for a year in the summer of 2001 . After a year he moved to FC Vaslui , who was playing in Divizia C at the time.

After the rise in 2003, Brăneț left Vaslui and joined the ambitious second division team Politehnica Iași . There he was able to contribute little to the promotion of his team in the first year with only six missions. In the 2004/05 season he became a regular player and was able to place his team in midfield. In the following years he always fought with his club against relegation. After this was unavoidable at the end of the 2009/10 season , he left the club and switched to league rivals Oțelul Galați . There he could not prevail against his rival Branko Grahovac , but was used by coach Dorinel Munteanu in the last game of the season when the 2011 championship was already certain. It wasn't until the second half of the 2011/12 season that he got more opportunities before he had to move back into the second link in the second half of the 2012/13 season. He ended his career at the end of 2013.
