Cristian Omar Maidana (born January 24, 1987 in Resistencia ) is an Argentine football player .

Club career

Cristian Maidana played for the Argentine first division club Atlético Banfield in 2006 and 2007 . Despite his young age, he quickly developed into a regular player and played a total of 41 league games in the two years. In January 2008 it was sold to the traditional Russian club Spartak Moscow for the equivalent of around 3.5 million US dollars . There he came in the 2008 season to 24 season games under coach Stanislav Tschertschessow . In January 2009 it was awarded to the Spanish first division club Recreativo Huelva . The oldest football club in Spain also secured a purchase option for 6 million euros, but did not withdraw it. From January to July 2011 Maidana was awarded again and played for the Argentine club Huracán .

In the summer of 2011, the midfielder moved to the Rangers de Talca in the Chilean Primera B de Chile, the country's second division. At the end of 2011 he rose with the team to the Primera División and at the beginning of 2012 extended his contract for another two years.

On July 26, 2012 he was loaned to the Mexican football club CF Atlante . In 2013 he returned to Argentina on loan and played for the Argentinos Juniors .

On January 15, 2014, he moved to the United States to join the Philadelphia Union . Two years later he went to league rivals Houston Dynamo .

National team

Maidana has not been used for the senior national team of Argentina. His last stop at the international level was the U-20 team in his home country.
