Cristina Georgiana Vărzaru (born December 5, 1979 in Corabia , Olt district ) is a former Romanian handball player .

Vărzaru played in Romania for CSS Corabia, CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea and Rapid Bucharest . The outside player won the Romanian championship four times with Oltchim Vâlcea (1999, 2000 and 2002) and Rapid (2003). In 2005 the left-hander moved to the Danish top club Viborg HK . With Viborg she won the championship in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010, and the Danish cup competition in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Internationally, Vărzaru won the EHF Champions League with the VHK in 2006, 2009 and 2010 . In the Champions League 2009/10 she was the top scorer of the competition with 101 goals. In summer 2012 she moved to the Romanian club CSM Bucharest. With CSM Bucharest she won the championship in 2015 and 2016, the Romanian Cup in 2016 and the EHF Champions League in 2016. She ended her career after the 2016/17 season. Since January 2018 she has been the Deputy Secretary General of the Romanian Handball Federation.

Vărzaru was a member of the Romanian national team for several years . Her greatest success with the Romanian selection was the runner-up in the 2005 World Cup . She also competed in 2000 with Romania at the Olympics in part.

Vărzaru was previously on the squad of the Romanian national junior team, with which they won the European Championship in 1998 and the World Cup in 1999.
