The Cryptomycocolacaceae are a family of the mushrooms (Basidiomycota), which are placed in a separate order Cryptomycocolacales and class Cryptomycocolacomycetes . There are two kinds of it.

Features and way of life

The Cryptomycocolacomycetes are parasites on tubular fungi and attack their sclerotia . They are characterized by the presence of special organelles called colacosomes. They are membrane-bound and connect the hyphae of the parasite with those of the host.

The basidia are particularly long.

The septal pores are associated with microbodies . The spindle pole bodies (SPBs, functionally correspond to the centrosomes ) are large, disc-shaped and embedded in a pore of the nuclear envelope during nuclear division. Both features, septal pores and SPBs, indicate a basal position within the mushrooms .

Systematics

The Cryptomycocolacomycetes belong to the Pucciniomycotina , but their exact position within this group is still unclear. The class includes an order with one family and two types:
