Crystal Kroetch (born June 18, 1957 in Innisfail , Alberta , as Crystal Oxtoby ) is a Canadian dressage rider .

Private

Her father, George Oxtoby, was an American Quarter Horse breeder and cutting trainer.

In 1990 she married Danny Kroetch, with whom she has two sons. The family runs the Carousel Stables in Calgary , one of the most famous dressage training facilities in Canada, and they spend the winter in Wellington (Florida) . They also have a saddlery.

Career

She started riding when she was six. Because of her father, she mostly rode westerns back then . In 1982 she came to dressage through her sister Patricia.

She has been training with Ger Geertsen since 1988 . She got further tips from Robert Dover , Albrecht Heidemann and Peter Campbell , among others .

In October 2011 she started with Lymrix at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara (Mexico) , where she won the silver medal with the team - the best result that the Canadian dressage team has achieved so far - and finished 9th in the individual.

Due to the success, the team qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
