The Cudgegong River is a river in the middle of the Australian state of New South Wales .

It rises east of Rylstone on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range in the western part of Wollemi National Park . From its source, the river flows through Lake Windamere, west of Rylstone, to the northwest through the town of Mudgee . West of Gulgong it changes its direction of travel first to the west and then south, where he worked in the Lake Barrendong and thus into the Macquarie River flows .

The Windamere reservoir on the river has a water content of 368.12 million m³, was completed in 1984 and is used to irrigate the surrounding agricultural land.
