Cuno Wulfrath von Bassewitz (* around 1554 ; † December 30, 1610 ) was a Mecklenburg district administrator , court master and provisional officer of the Dobertin monastery .

Life

He came from the Wendish, today counts, line of the old Mecklenburg family von Bassewitz . His parents were Lütke von Bassewitz and Anna von Quitzow , a daughter of the district administrator and captain of Neustadt, Lütke von Quitzow. In addition to Cuno Wulfrath, the parents had eight other children, including David von Bassewitz . In 1577 he married Catharina v. Bülow , widowed v. Hahn , daughter of Christoph v. Bülow hereditary lord on Gartow, who died in 1592. After this marriage, which had remained childless, he married Anna Sophie v. Lützow , daughter of Veit v. Lützow on Kl. Lützow and Salome v. Oppenhausen. From this marriage came two children, of whom only his son Lüdeke (Ludolph) survived.

After training with "other nobles of the nobility", he went to the Netherlands and took part in "the war" there. "Since God had given him a beautiful understanding / reflection / and look", he went to court and was appointed court master by Duke Ulrich . He kept this office under his successor Duke Johann , who also appointed him district administrator. Under Johann he was sent to the Reichstag in Regensburg, where he negotiated with the King of Denmark, the Elector of Brandenburg and other princes. In 1608 he became provisional officer of the Dobertin monastery.

Together with his brother David and cousin Joachim von Bassewitz , he acted as guarantor for the dukes Ulrich and Sigismund regarding a main prescription of 10,000 thalers. By resolution of December 23, 1609, as one of the ducal Mecklenburg commissaries, he should amicably settle claims against Strisenow with the Lübeck commissaries. The negotiations in Wismar led to an agreement on April 12, 1610 not to continue the process.

“Then a negotiation was made about the complete severance payment for the hospital and the revenue from Teterow of 9 guilders a year was included, but the main settlement was concluded on September 12, 1610. The same is made out on parchment under the signature of the then ruling dukes Adolph Friederich and Hans Albrecht, with their handpettships, as well as with the smaller seal of the city of Lübeck. "

After his death on December 30, 1610, he was buried on February 14, 1611 in Basse. The Rostock Superintendent Lucas Bacmeister gave his funeral sermon . Cuno Wulfrath owned the Mecklenburg goods Masslow and Lühburg .
