Curium (IV) fluoride is a fluoride of the artificial element and actinide curium with the empirical formula CmF 4 . In this salt , curium occurs in the +4 oxidation state. Since all isotopes of curium are only artificially produced, it has no natural occurrence.

The synthesis of curium (IV) fluoride takes place via the oxidative fluorination of curium (III) fluoride .
properties
Curium (IV) fluoride is a brown ionic compound consisting of Cm 4+ and F - ions. It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system in the space group C 2 / c (space group no. 15) with the lattice parameters a = 1250 pm , b = 1049 pm and c = 818 pm and twelve formula units per unit cell . Its crystal structure is isotype with uranium (IV) fluoride .
