Current Value

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Current Value (actually Tim Eliot) is a German drum and bass producer from Berlin . His music reached a wider audience through numerous publications and collaboration with Björk .

development

Current Value began classical piano training at the age of six and pursued it for 16 years. It gave him a basic understanding of music and the necessary basic knowledge. In the early 1990s he began to be interested in electronic dance music and began producing music with a simple keyboard , sampler and sequencer . He later worked with additive synthesizers and similar sound generators, and in 2004 also earned a diploma in audio engineering .

Today the computer-aided, digital signal processor- based modular software synthesizer Nord Modular G2 from Clavia is an integral part of his equipment. For the most part, Current Value creates its sounds from scratch with this synthesizer and then arranges them in FL Studio , Ableton Live or Reason .

collaboration

In addition to numerous publications with artists such as the singer Snow, The Panacea , Limewax, Cooh, Forbidden Society and Donny, the following musicians play a key role in Current Value's discography:

Bjork

The singer, songwriter and composer Björk was made aware of the music of Current Value in 2011. In the course of the resulting collaboration, Current Value created and arranged the synthetic drum sounds of Sacrifice on the album Biophilia (One Little Indian Records, Polydor) and produced remixes of Crystalline , Solstice , Thunderbolt and Hollow .

Dean Rodell

Current Value has already released several drum-and-bass singles with techno producer Dean Rodell, who also lives in Berlin, as a solo artist. Together they produce on the basis of the album Back to the Machine , which was almost entirely produced by Current Value with the Nord Modular G2, under the name of Machine Code and dubstep and techno.

Together with Dean Rodell, the singer Martina Astner (formerly Hornbacher, Therion and Dreams of Sanity ), the MC Marvin Hay as MC Coppa and Ivan Shopov as Cooh and Balkansky, Current Value also publishes underhill dubstep and trip-hop with influences from drum and bass, techno and hip-hop .
