Wayne Curtis "Curt" Weldon (born July 22, 1947 in Marcus Hook , Pennsylvania ) is an American politician .

Weldon attended West Chester State College in West Chester and received his Bachelor of Arts in 1969 . Then he worked as a teacher and was active in the volunteer fire department. From 1977 to 1982 Weldon held the office of Mayor of Marcus Hook; between 1981 and 1986 he was a member of the county council of Delaware County. After an unsuccessful attempt in 1984, Weldon was elected as a Republican to Congress in 1986 and represented the state of Pennsylvania from January 3, 1987 to January 3, 2007 in the US House of Representatives . In the 2006 elections he could not defend his mandate: He lost the election to the Democrat Joe Sestak .

In 2003 he was in Pyongyang to mediate in the nuclear dispute with North Korea . On April 6, 2011, he traveled to Tripoli to reach a ceasefire in the Libyan civil war .
