Moritz Gogg

Moritz Gogg (born March 2, 1974 in Graz ) is an Austrian opera singer ( baritone ) and cultural manager . He is the artistic operations director and opera director at the Stadttheater Gießen and will take over the Erzgebirgische Theater- und Orchester GmbH as managing director from the 21/22 season. Moritz Gogg was previously head of the artistic operations at the Brucknerhaus in Linz , where he was largely responsible for the International Bruckner Festival.

Life

Moritz Gogg graduated from the Academic Gymnasium in Graz , then studied piano at the JJ Fux Conservatory , won several prizes in piano competitions and worked as a répétiteur and musical director at the Graz theaters between 1993 and 1997 . He completed his vocal studies at the Vienna University of Music with Helena Łazarska , where he also attended the lieder class with Walter Berry . In 2000 he passed his diploma with distinction and was promoted to a Magister artium . Gogg u. a. with Hilde Zadek , Thomas Hampson , Hans Hotter and Wicus Slabbert , he received his game studies from Daniel Sarge .

In 2001 he became a member of the International Opera Studio of the Hamburg State Opera , of which he was a member until 2003. From 2003 to 2015 Moritz Gogg was a member of the Hamburg State Opera ensemble. Guest appearances have taken him to the Saxon State Opera in Dresden , the Vienna Volksoper , the Bonn Opera , the Schwerin State Theater , the Lübeck Theater , the Linz State Theater , the Haydn Festival in Eisenstadt and the Salzburg Festival .

Gogg worked with conductors like Philippe Auguin , Frédéric Chaslin , Alfred Eschwé , Alexander Joel , Peter Keuschnig , Alessandro De Marchi , Ádám Fischer , Cornelius Meister , Ingo Metzmacher , Stefan Soltesz , Uwe Theimer , Ralf Weikert , Bruno Weil , Sebastian Weigle , Ralf Weikert and Simone Young and directors such as Willy Decker , Achim Freyer , Caroline Gruber , Robert Herzl , Guy Joosten , Peter Konwitschny , Josef E. Köpplinger , Harry Kupfer , Nikolaus Lehnhoff , Christian Pöppelreiter , Andrea Schwalbach , Keith Warner and Dominik Wilgenbus .

Various radio and CD recordings of the artist are available. He sang on the recording of Jörn Arnecke's chamber opera Das Fest im Meer , which premiered in 2003 at Kampnagel ( Hamburg ). In the summer of 2007, the complete recording of Mathis der Maler was published , in which Moritz Gogg took part under the musical direction of Simone Young .

Moritz Gogg's father is the Austrian cabaret artist Dieter Gogg . His sister Sibylle Gogg is a freelance actress and lives in Berlin.
