Curtis Bradley

Curtis A. Bradley (* 1964 ) is an American lawyer and professor at Duke University .

Education and professional career

Bradley graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Political Science in 1985 . This was followed by postgraduate studies in law at Harvard University , which he completed in 1988 with a Juris Doctor degree. After spending a year serving Judge David M. Ebel on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit , he was admitted to the Colorado state bar and worked for Arnold & Porter , a major American law firm in Denver . From July 1990 to September 1991 was Bradley employees by Justice Byron White at the Supreme Court of the United States , before returning back to the legal profession and, after admission to the bar in the District of Columbia , for Covington & Burling has worked in Washington, DC. In 1995 he received a call from his alma mater , where he taught until 1999. Then he moved to the University of Virginia . Bradley taught at the law school there until 2005. From January to December 2004, he also advised the United States Department of State on questions of international law . In 2005 Bradley accepted a call from Duke University to the William Van Alstyne Professorship in Law and Public Order . He also held visiting professorships at Harvard University (2008) and the University of Cincinnati (2013) and taught at the Hague Academy of International Law .

Memberships

Bradley is Associate Editor of the American Journal of International Law . He is Vice President of the American Society for International Law and a member of the American Law Institute . He is also a member of the International Law Association .
