Cuscuta colombiana is a parasitic living plants art from the genus silk in the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The species is native to Colombia .

description

The stems of Cuscuta colombiana are slender, withering and eventually disappearing except for the inflorescences . The inflorescences are tuft-forming, paniculate cymes . These tufts reach a diameter of about 3 to 4 cm. The flowers are more or less fleshy, about 1.5 mm long, the flower stalks are often longer than the flowers.

The calyx is covered with ovate-lanceolate to elongated calyx lobes, towards the front they are pointed and more or less unclearly shaped. The crown is bell-shaped, papillary at the base and covered with ovate-lanceolate and pointed lobes. Due to the protruding sepals and the cup-shaped crown, the leaves are reminiscent of a cup with a saucer. The stamens reach roughly to the tip of the corolla lobes. Between the stamens there are small, elongated to spatula-shaped, fringed scales. The stylus is elongated and sits on a spherical ovary .

The fruits are pressed in, spherical capsules that pop open through a ring crack.

The species is native to Colombia and can be found there in the Magdalena Department . The type location is dry grassland and is 300 m above sea level.

Systematics

Cuscuta colombiana is classified within the genus silk ( Cuscuta ) in the subgenus Grammica .
