Cutty cutshall

Cutty Cutshall [ ˈkʌt̬i ˈkʌtʃɔːl ] (born December 29, 1911 in Huntingdon , Pennsylvania , as Robert Dewee Cutshall , † August 16, 1968 in Toronto ) was an American jazz trombonist.

Cutshall began his music career in Pittsburgh , where he toured with Charley Dornberger's dance band in 1934 . In 1938 he became a member of Jan Savitt's orchestra; after that he played for Benny Goodman in the early 1940s and again after his military service in 1946. At the end of the decade he worked with Billy Butterfield at Nick's New York jazz club and as a freelance musician in New York City . In 1949 began his collaboration with Eddie Condon , which was to last ten years; He also played with Max Kaminsky and Peanuts Hucko during this time and performed from 1963 to 1966 on theColorado Jazz Party on. He was also a member of the Nine Greats of Jazz formation , which later became The World's Greatest Jazz Band . Cutshall last toured with Condon in 1968; he died in a hotel room in Toronto, Canada.

Cutty Cutshall has also worked on recordings of Bob Crosby , Jimmy McPartland , Jimmy Dorsey , Yank Lawson / Bob Haggart and Wild Bill Davison throughout his career ; he is heavily influenced by Jack Teagarden .
